The Right Order to Apply Skincare Products

YOZO Snow Skin Brightening Toner, a mid-routine step in the recommended skincare layering order

When you use more than one skincare product, the order can affect how easy the routine feels and how well each layer sits on the skin. A simple rule is to move from cleansing to lighter products, then to richer products, and finish with cosmetic coverage.

The exact order can vary by formula, so the packaging directions should always come first. For a basic YOZO routine, the sequence below provides a practical starting point.

Basic skincare order

  1. Cleanser
  2. Toner
  3. Eye cream, if used
  4. Face cream
  5. Sunscreen, if used and directed for daytime
  6. BB cream or other makeup

Step 1: Cleanser

Cleansing comes first because it removes surface oil, dirt and makeup residue. Applying other products over unclean skin can make the routine feel heavy and uneven.

Review the YOZO Snow Skin Purifying Cleanser if you are building a routine from the current YOZO range.

Step 2: Toner

Toner is normally applied after cleansing and before creams. It is an optional step, not a requirement for everyone.

If you use the YOZO Snow Skin Brightening Toner, apply it according to the packaging directions and allow the layer to settle before moving on.

Step 3: Eye cream

Eye cream is usually applied before a heavier face cream. Use a small amount and avoid rubbing the delicate eye area aggressively.

The YOZO Brightening Eye Cream is part of the current YOZO range. Any claims about results, suitability or ingredients should come from verified packaging and product information.

Step 4: Face cream

Face cream generally follows lighter layers such as toner. Apply a sensible amount and let it settle before makeup.

Step 5: Sunscreen, when used

If you use a separate sunscreen, follow its own directions. It is usually applied after skincare and before makeup. YOZO does not currently sell a sunscreen, and no BB cream should be assumed to provide SPF unless verified packaging clearly states it.

Step 6: BB cream

BB cream belongs near the end of a daytime routine because it is a cosmetic coverage step. Apply it after your skincare layers have settled.

Use a small amount of YOZO Brightening BB Cream and blend evenly. Add more only where needed.

Morning routine example

  1. Cleanse
  2. Apply toner if desired
  3. Apply eye cream if used
  4. Apply face cream
  5. Apply sunscreen separately if used
  6. Finish with BB cream

Evening routine example

  1. Remove makeup thoroughly
  2. Cleanse
  3. Apply toner if desired
  4. Apply eye cream if used
  5. Finish with face cream

How long should you wait between layers?

You do not need to follow a strict timer. Allow each product enough time to settle so the next layer does not immediately mix or roll. The texture of the product and the amount used will influence this.

What if products start pilling?

  • Use less product.
  • Allow each layer to settle.
  • Press rather than rubbing aggressively.
  • Simplify the number of products.

Do you need every step?

No. A routine should match your needs, comfort and verified product information. Some people prefer only cleanser and cream, while others add toner, eye care or BB cream.
